Visiting the website
The website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you open a page, the web server processes technical connection data, including your IP address, the date and time, the requested file and details of your browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. STRATO processes this data on our behalf under its data processing agreement.
STRATO stores visitors’ IP addresses for no longer than seven days to detect and prevent attacks. IP addresses are anonymised in the access logs made available to us. STRATO provides further details in its information on data processing when visiting a website.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a website that is secure and reliably accessible.
Analytics, fonts and media
The website files contain no analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts, images and the title animation are served with the website; there are no external Google Fonts, third-party videos or social media plugins. If article audio summaries are offered, they are also stored on this server and load only when you start playback. This does not connect your browser to the AI voice provider.
The sharing row below articles consists of plain links. A service such as WhatsApp or LinkedIn is only contacted when you click it; its own privacy information then applies.
If you switch dark mode on or off, your browser remembers this choice in its local storage (entry “curiosignals-theme”) so that it stays the same as you move between pages. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time via the site data settings in your browser. Nothing is stored unless you make a choice.
Contact by email
Clicking our email address opens your email app. We receive your email address, your name if included, and the content and attachments only when you send the message yourself.
The contact inbox is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO processes mailbox data under its data processing agreement.
We use your details to respond to your enquiry. For enquiries relating to a contract, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. For other enquiries it is Article 6(1)(f), together with our interest in responding to incoming messages.
We delete messages once an enquiry is resolved and the data is no longer needed. Where statutory retention duties apply, or data is needed to establish or defend legal claims, it is retained for that purpose.
Your rights
Subject to the legal requirements, you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it for the future. Please use the contact address above.
Right to object: If processing relies on legitimate interests, you can object on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21 of the GDPR).
You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. In North Rhine-Westphalia, you can contact the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
